Ministries

Cornerstone offers a variety of ministries for you to be involved in. For more information on any of these, please contact the church office.

Evangelism

The goal of the Evangelism Team is to fulfill the Great Commission by equipping the members of Cornerstone to:

Pray for the lost

Present their personal testimony

  • Involve the members with a questionnaire on developing their own testimony
  • Involve the members in a step by step lesson on sharing their testimony

Proclaim the Gospel

  • What is the Gospel?
  • How to share without an argument ABF series

Hospitality and Nurture

The Hospitality Team is composed of five members whose aim is to provide quality as well as quantity nourishment for the members of Cornerstone Community Church on various occasions of fellowship.

Each Sunday morning following the worship service, coffee, donuts and rolls are provided.

Quarterly a meal is prepared for those participating in the season of prayer and an Easter breakfast for any who are interested following the service.

Our kitchen is adequately equipped for nearly any type of food preparation desired. A pass through from the kitchen to the fellowship hall has been built, and is affectionately named Ali’s donut hole.

Various “potlucks” and other meals are under the oversight of this committee.

Missions

Cornerstone is a “missions active” church in the sense that it actively accepts its Great Commission responsibility to be a “seedbed” for world evangelization. From its beginnings, the leadership has sensed the Lord’s leading to encourage Cornerstone to become a “sending” church, whereby “home grown” missionary households are raised up and sent out. The church endeavors to ensure that its missionary families are adequately equipped and prepared through training, counseling, pastoral care, financial and prayer support, and importantly, the love and care from the Body.

The essence of missions is cross-cultural evangelism and discipleship – reaching out to the unreached peoples of the world where there is little or no Gospel witness in their midst. Our “sent-out-ones” include: (1) a family in the Middle East in a team leadership role that focuses on training and equipping church planting teams; (2) two families reaching the lost in strategic areas of Central Asia; (3) a family in a church planting ministry in East Asia; (4) a pastor/evangelist/church planter in the middle belt of Nigeria.

Local Outreach

Cornerstone’s local outreach to its Jerusalem (Acts 1:8) includes:

  • Jewell Elementary School – Tutoring
  • Prayer Walks
  • Bible Study at Garden Plaza
  • Weekly home groups with Bible Study

Prayer

OUR MISSION: The prayer team ministry is charged with the responsibility of keeping prayer as the priority in everything we do at Cornerstone. We meet regularly to plan prayer opportunities for the church and invite anyone who has a heart for prayer to join with us as we recognize its significance both individually and corporately in seeking the Lord’s will in our lives and for our church.

Prayer Team Meetings: meets once a month at the church to update current activities and plan future prayer related opportunities.

Corporate Prayer and Communion: The third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary, we pray for the church and community.

Neighborhood Prayer Walk: twice a year, an opportunity to reach out to the community surrounding the church working hand in hand with the Evangelism Team.

Leadership Prayer: encourage volunteers from the congregation to prepare a written prayer asking for prayers for the church leaders. The prayer is provided in the Sunday Worship Bulletin on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month and included in the Pastors e-mails to the congregation.

Prayer Cells: encourage small groups of two or three individuals to come to pray on a regular basis in the Prayer Room at Church.

  • Prayer Cell Times - To be determined

National Day of Prayer: in conjunction with the National Day of prayer we join other churches on the 1st Thursday of May to pray for our families, churches, communities, state and nation.  This year's event will be Thursday, May 7th. The theme will be "Lord, hear Our cry." More details to follow.

National Prayer for the Oppressed: in conjunction with this National Christian Sunday, assist the Missions Team in presenting special prayers and shared information for those oppressed throughout the World during Sunday Worship in the fall.

Easter and Christmas Seasons: assist the Worship Team in preparing special prayer opportunities during these two highly visible times of the year.

Music Worship Teams

Cornerstone Community Church currently has a rotation of music worship teams. This allows for a variety of worship styles which have inspired the congregation.  The pastor leads the rotation and coordinates who will lead the service each week.  The pastor communicates with each team for prayer and planning of each worship experience. All areas of public worship are represented on the worship team by individuals including: musicians, singers, audio visual technicians, and sound board helpers. Special meetings of the music worship teams are held as needed. The goal of the teams is to provide quality worship elements that allow God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to have His place in our worship and our hearts!
