Cornerstone is a “missions active” church in the sense that it actively accepts its Great Commission responsibility to be a “seedbed” for world evangelization. From its beginnings, the leadership has sensed the Lord’s leading to encourage Cornerstone to become a “sending” church, whereby “home grown” missionary households are raised up and sent out. The church endeavors to ensure that its missionary families are adequately equipped and prepared through training, counseling, pastoral care, financial and prayer support, and importantly, the love and care from the Body.
The essence of missions is cross-cultural evangelism and discipleship – reaching out to the unreached peoples of the world where there is little or no Gospel witness in their midst. Our “sent-out-ones” include: (1) a family in the Middle East in a team leadership role that focuses on training and equipping church planting teams; (2) two families reaching the lost in strategic areas of Central Asia; (3) a family in a church planting ministry in East Asia; (4) a pastor/evangelist/church planter in the middle belt of Nigeria.
